Urban is the only contractor in New York City to have successfully moved buildings both horizontally and vertically.

In 1998, Urban set a world record by moving the 3,700-ton historic Empire Theatre 170 feet along 42nd Street in Times Square—the largest structural move in the city’s history.

In 2022, Urban achieved another engineering milestone by lifting the 7,000-ton historic Palace Theatre 30 feet above street level in Times Square, marking the first time such a feat had been accomplished in New York City.
